HOMETOWN BOY MAKES GOOD
Video Arts Studios welcomed Fargo’s own, Timm Sharp, to record audio for a new comedy TV series entitled “Blunt Talk” on STARZ, starting later this summer. Timm was in the area during the month of June to teach improvisation techniques for the Acting Intensive Program at Trollwood Performing Arts School. While he was here, we were happy to record Timm’s dialogue for post production for the half-hour comedy series from executive producer Seth MacFarlane – and starring Patrick Stewart. “Blunt Talk” will debut on Saturday, August 22, at 9pm ET/PT.
Some of Sharp’s TV credits include: Andy in ‘SIX FEET UNDER’ (HBO), Marshall Nesbitt in ‘UNDECLARED’ (FOX), Doug Von Stuessen in ‘TIL DEATH’ (FOX), and as Dougie Daniels in ‘ENLIGHTENED’ (HBO). Many local theatre fans will remember Timm from his Trollwood Performing Arts School Days where he performed in Romeo & Juliet, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, West Side Story, and Guys & Dolls. His most memorable performance was the leading role in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Timm is making a name for himself in Los Angeles, as you can see from his credits on UCB Comedy.

Elks Make a Difference
Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, by undertaking projects that address unmet needs. Many people are aware of the Elks organization, but may not know of the investment they make in the communities. Owned and operated by the Elks of North Dakota, Camp Grassick serves children and adults with various disabilities and special needs throughout six different sessions. Dave Bailly, Past President and Current Membership Chair of the ND Elks Association, contacted Video Arts Studios to create a membership PSA to highlight this State Major Project-Elks Camp Grassick.
Everyone wants to go to summer camp, including children and adults with special needs, and the ND Elks Camp is nationally known for their outstanding service to children and adults with disabilities. The Video Arts’ creative team of Producer Jim Kirwan, Director of Photography Marty Halgrimson and Sound Engineer John Shea spent a beautiful summer day in June videotaping activities at Camp Grassick, south of Dawson, ND. Camp Director Dan Mimnaugh helped the team highlight the fun and camaraderie that is enjoyed by campers and counselors alike during the sessions.
We are happy to welcome Sam Claeys to the Video Arts’ creative team as our Senior Editor. Sam grew up in Bottineau, ND where he was active in music, arts and theatre. So he definitely chose the right career! Sam brings his artistic eye to the edit suite. He was a photojournalist for his local paper and won numerous awards for his photography. He worked at Prairie Public Television before joining us at Video Arts Studios.
Sam jumped right in with both feet, working with some of our most long-standing clients from the first day he joined our team. We are grateful for his many talents and collaborative spirit when working in the edit suite. His love of photography and cinema/filmmaking as artistic mediums added to the creative team from the very start. If you’re in the area, stop by to say hello and welcome him to the creative community.
